Professional Background A career as a professional engineer in the defence industry, mainly in the design and supply of naval communications systems. With experiences that include – understanding the operational need, designing cost-effective solutions, technical negotiations, presentations, producing major bids and writing technical reports.

What you love about the village?  The people and sense of community, along with its rural setting.

Your local involvements, projects delivered – Successfully lead the bid on behalf of the PC for funding from Amey for the Village Hall energy saving package, which included double glazing for the Hall and a Solar PV system to the power the Community Shop. Currently Team Lead for the Neighbourhood Plan for the Grafham and Ellington Neighbourhood Area.

Your personal sustainability goal – To buy an electric car!

Your local involvements, projects delivered – Treasurer of Life Magazine and the Village Hall.  Assisted in the Grant from Amey to upgrade village hall to be more efficient both energy-wise and aesthetically, including more efficient heating system and double glazing.

Professional Background – I am a teacher and work full time at a local school. I have worked there for over 20 years. 

What you love about the village? – Grafham Water is on the doorstep. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Amazing wildlife on the doorstep. A variety of facilities in the village such as the shop, pub, sailing and fishing. 

Your personal sustainability goal – I would like to become more energy efficient generally. Buying locally is important to me as well as cutting my carbon footprint. 

Your local involvements, projects delivered –On the PC, I have arranged the village defibrillator and been involved with Perry in Bloom.

Professional Background A professional engineer and manager, with a lifelong interest in the environment. (I graduated in 1974 with a degree in civil engineering and environmental studies!). I have experience of large project development and operation in the water and transport sectors. I also have managed social housing refurbishment projects.

What you love about the village? – The sense of community. Its location, a rural setting but with very good transport links to the rest of the country

Your local involvements, projects delivered – I am part of the management committee for our village community shop which is now in its 6th year of trading. I was also involved in bidding to Amey for the Village Hall energy saving package. The solar panels, installed as part of the project, now provide a significant part of the Community Shop’s power.

Your personal sustainability goal To reach a personal net zero carbon emissions!

Your local involvements, projects delivered – Building of Pavilion on playing field subsequently updated with solar panels and air source heat pump. Extensions to village hall updated with improved heating and efficient boiler. Footpath reorganisation. Currently close to agreeing project for 12 affordable dwellings on a rural exception site all with ground source heat pumps.
